Join the Banning Cultural Alliance Youth Arts Council for the Black Heritage Day Celebration on Saturday, February 27, from 12 to 6 p.m. This free event will feature the artwork by artists Al Milliner and Ottis Washington, as we honor a part of Culture & Americas history with costumed poetry & skits, great music, dancers and more.
Master of Ceremony: Deborah Dukes, President of the BUSD school board and well known throughout the community for her numerous contributions, will guide us through a day of outstanding speakers and performances by the Pass Area Gospel Choir, singers Yve Evans, Zelyne Ruldoph, Dance Spectrum: Tap & Jazz, a tribute to Michael Jackson with dancers Beyond the Others, Dancer Judah Ruiz and the Hyper Active dancers. Enjoy youth art displays and More!
Mayor Bob Botts will be on hand to help as we honor 3 outstanding Pass area women, known for their generosity and for giving their time to young and old alike throughout the community and the years.
As the day winds down stay for the dinner and dance, with some of the best soul food you will ever taste while you listen to Entertainer Jerome Robinson, best known for his performances with the Second Generation Platters. The audience will not be disappointed when they hear the vocal capabilities of this man as he sings such hits as "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "Rocking Robin," "Twilight Time," "My Way," "Jumblia," "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine," "Proud Mary" and more.
This is an event that the whole family can enjoy and best of all admission is free!
Dinner is served 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. and subject to a first come first serve basis, with a suggested donation of $5 per plate.
The event will be at the Banning Womans Club 175 W. Hays

Easy to find the event will be at the Banning Woman's Club. Take I-10 to 8th Street north one block to Ramsey right on Ramsey to third (Old PD station) left one block to Hays right on Hays to one block to the Historic Woman's Club.
